Base painting for the vintage movie poster ''Hotel Imperial'', a drama film released in 1939, directed by Robert Florey and starring Isa Miranda and Ray Milland. The movie is set during World War I and is based on the play "The Hotel Imperial" by Lajos Bíró and Melchior Lengyel.
The story is set in Austria-Hungary during the First World War and revolves around the events that unfold in a luxurious hotel located in a small European town. The hotel becomes a microcosm of the war itself, with guests and staff from various backgrounds and nationalities caught up in the chaos and uncertainty of the conflict.
Isa Miranda portrays Anna, a beautiful chambermaid working at the hotel, who becomes romantically involved with a dashing young lieutenant named Franz, played by Ray Milland. Their love affair is complicated by the war, as Franz is called away to the front lines, leaving Anna behind to contend with the challenges of wartime life.
